Midwest Bible Training Center is designed to
enrich the life of those seeking a closer relationship with Christ and to
expand on ministry opportunities with their local church. The MBTC Statement
of Faith is designed to reflect the fundamental values and beliefs of the
school and its Staff.
Midwest Bible Training Center recognizes that its basis of faith shall be
according to the doctrine of Christ found in 2 John 9:11: "Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath no God."
The Biblically inspired doctrinal basis of faith which lists the seven
principles of the doctrine of Christ is found in Hebrews 6:1-2:
"Therefore, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on
to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead
works, and faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on
of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement."
Thus
we see that these seven principles include the following:
1. Repentance from dead works.
2. Faith in God.
3. Doctrine of baptisms.
4. The laying on of hands.
5. The resurrection of the dead.
6. Eternal judgement.
7. The going on to perfection.
SECTION II
Obviously in the New Testament Church, there was not uniformity of beliefs
in all matters, including for example that of circumcision (Acts 5:1). The
apostles did not attempt to resolve the differences in this case. Either
side was given liberty of conscience in the matter, but neither was
permitted to make it an issue. Midwest Bible Training Center therefore
stands for New Testament liberty of conscience but disapproves of any who
would use that liberty to divide brethren.
SECTION III
We
believe:
That the Bible is the
inspired Word of God and therefore is inerrant in its original
form and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work. That God breathed His Word by the
Holy Spirit into human authors who were inspired to write. We believe in
the plenary verbal inspiration of Scripture.
2 Tim. 3:16-17 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped
for every good work." (NKJ)
That
Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the incarnate Son of God, born of the
virgin Mary, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, rose from the grave
bodily on the third day, sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven
making intercession for believers, and is soon coming again.
That the
Godhead is a trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
That
Christ's return will include, the rapture of the church followed by
tribulation of the unbelievers and evangelization of Israel, His return to
earth to rule for a thousand years, followed by the judgement.
That to be
a follower of Jesus Christ requires a personal "Born Again"
experience.
John 3:6-18 "That which is born of the flesh is
flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I
said to you, `You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes, and
you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it
goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit. ... And as Moses lifted up
the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did
not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world
through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he
who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in
the name of the only begotten Son of God." (NKJ)
That the
Church is the Body of Christ and has been given Christ's authority to
make disciples of all nations.
Matt. 28:18-20 "And Jesus came and spoke to them,
saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.' Amen." (NKJ)
That the
Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a present day reality, different and
subsequent to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as described in 1
Cor. 12:13 "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one
body-- whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free-- and have all been
made to drink into one Spirit." (NKJ)
That
Christ's atonement included deliverance from demons, sickness and
poverty.
3 John 2 "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in
all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
Lk. 4:18-20 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent Me
to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery
of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To
proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
Mk. 16: 16-20 "'He who believes and is baptized will be
saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will
follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will
speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink
anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the
sick, and they will recover.' So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He
was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And
they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and
confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen." (NKJ)
